Windmill Hunting

Air Buddha flight 1 successfully encountered a bank of windmills near Tiskilwa, IL this past Sunday. There’s something about windmills when you fly. They’re strangely alluring for some reason.

Output from this bank provides some 0.0000000016% of Chicago’s power!

Almost like home

I love how anytime you order some sort of furniture, large electronics, anything that has to be delivered, or even if the cable man has to make a house call, they give you a good four hour window of when they’ll actually show up. For most of us, that means taking at least half a day off work. I suppose I was lucky this morning when I got a call from the doorman at 8:05am when the furniture delivery guys showed up. With a window from 8:00 to 12:00, I guess I’m lucky they came right away. Friday being one of my days off, I was hoping they’d show up right in the middle of the window so I could sleep in a little more, but whatever. Neither of the guys spoke English, and they dropped one of the concrete table tops. It will have to be replaced, but the stuff looks GREAT in the meantime. Now I just have the couch to go. It’s suppose to be ready sometime in mind September. I’m guessing they have to grow the cotton to make the fabric before they can actually make and deliver the couch. Frickin’ unions.

These are the tables that arrived.

Hummm… they look amazingly similar. Guess one picture would have been enough. This furniture looks really sharp, though, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Quick Update

Even though I no longer have homework per se, it still seems like I always have something to do. Having moved only a few weeks ago, I still have a bunch of stuff to put away or otherwise move somewhere out of sight. About half of the furniture I ordered will be here this Friday, but I’ll still be using the same Windex-cleanable couch that I’ve had throughout dental school. I think the company making the couch has to grow the cotton to make the thread and fabric first. That must be it.

It really is amazing how much stuff I have accumulated over the past eight years or so. It seems a lot compared to my friends, anyway. I think part of this is due to the fact that my parents are not close by, and therefore their house isn’t really available for storage. Man, that would be nice. Granted, Buddha seems a bit annoyed with the four computer boxes in my former room’s closet, but…

Work continues and is quite awesome, really. The day flies by when I’m doing my thing, and I get paid for it! Must be a good fit! I’ve only encountered minor resistance from a handful of older patients who want to stick with the old guy and not “the kid.” If I were a member of “the family,” there would be almost no resistance here, but everyone who has decided to “give the kid a try” has had nothing but good things to say. It’s good so far, and it keeps getting better.

So what’s with all these weddings? Seems the in thing to do once again. There’s that period right after college, then nothing, and now after dental school, it’s back on. Even people who didn’t go to any kind of grad or professional school are hopping on this eighth year thing. Weird stuff. Too bad there isn’t any sort of tax write-off for the ridiculous amounts of money I’m spending on airfare and wedding gifts every weekend. Ahh, well, weddings are fun (except for that one), and there are some sure thing good times coming up.
